giving back
to our
community
At Jarvis, we’re privileged to be able to give back to our community.
Here are some of the organisations that we support.
Work experience for hutt valley youth
For 20 years, Jarvis has hosted gateway students from colleges around the Hutt Valley.
Gateway helps students in Years 12 and 13 access workplace-based learning and develop a path into a career while staying in school and studying for NCEA. Students work with us at least one day a week for a full year.
Gateway truly works. Our first ever gateway student from Taita College is now our Operations Manager 20 years later. Another 2017 Gateway student from St Patricks College Silverstream is still with us, almost fully qualified, and just purchased his first house at 22!
In 2025 we joined with Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce Education to Employment programme to host students for work experience for a term at a time.
This year we will host students from St Patrick’s, St Bernard’s and Te Kura.
Christ Church, Taita
We are delighted to be able to help Christ Church in Taita out with their new Visitor's Centre.
We have donated our plumbing labour and materials at no charge. We have sourced a hot water heating unit from RINNAI, toilets, basins and tapware from Robertson Bathware. The project is now ready for pre-line inspections.
Te Omanga Hospice
We are a proud major sponsor of Te Omanga Hospice’s Vintners’ Lunch 2024 — the hospice's largest annual fundraiser.
Petone Rowing Club
We purchased a new doubles boat, named Anita B, for the club to race in. They won two masters silver medals at Karapiro Legions Regatta 2024 in the boats first outing!
Lower hutt afc player Jayden Patterson-Gunn
We’re super stoked to sponsor one of our very own staff members, Jayden ‘Gunny’ Patterson-Gunn, as he hits the field for Lower Hutt City AFC in Central League 2.
upper hutt whiteware pickups
We donate old hot water cylinders, infinities, and whiteware we pull out of renovations to local legend Chris Clifton.
Chris recycles old whiteware white teaching youth skills and raising money for their fundraising effort. You can find out more in this 1News Good Sorts article!
