Jarvis family celebrate 40 years as Master Plumbers
Just over 40 years ago, in 1984, David Noel Jarvis became a proud Master Plumber.
Based in Stokes Valley, Dave quickly became a fixture of the community — always in his iconic uniform of blue overalls and working out of his trusty white Holden ute sporting ‘D N Jarvis Plumber’ magnetic signs.
Dave had a passion for fostering young plumbers from day one, training apprentices for the Energy Board to cover off their two-years plumbing experience. After a while solo, Dave joined forces with his mate Graham Sinclair to form Jarvis & Sinclair Plumbers. This partnership lasted a decade until they cordially parted ways in 1996 to start their own businesses with their better halves.
In 1997 Dave and Genny Jarvis started Jarvis Plumbgas Services Ltd. Dave was on the tools with his apprentice, Hayden. Genny ran the office while completing a Bachelor of Commerce & Accounting with four young children — easy as!
Jarvis Plumbgas has been loyal to Stokes Valley with a home on George Street since that first day in 1997. Although there was a brief appearance next to the Bakehouse in the Stokes Valley Shops in the early 2000s.

1997 was a significant year because it also saw the eldest son, Dan Jarvis, start his PGD apprenticeship with I&M Plumbing. After becoming qualified Dan joined his parents at Jarvis Plumbgas for 12 years. In 2017 he left to follow in his father’s footsteps by starting his own company, DJ Plumbing & Gasworks Ltd, with his wife Rhiannon in 2017.
Since 1997 the our team has grown organically with many talented tradespeople serving along the way — over 70 apprentices and gateway students and counting. There have been a few family members journeying with the company too. Dave’s daughter Angela ran the office for a while. Aunt Linda has been the office hero for 12 years. Son-in-law Phil has served 14 years on the tools. Nephew Aiden is currently an apprentice. And of course there are all the teamembers that become family along the way — special mention to Callum who is celebrating 20 years with Jarvis this year.
The latest chapter in the Jarvis Plumbgas story comes in February 2023: Dave & Genny’s retirement. Dan and Rhiannon Jarvis merged their company DJ Plumbing & Gasworks with Jarvis Plumbgas to create Jarvis Plumbing & Gasworks Ltd — the company you know today. Today we are proud to honour the same values that were started 40 years ago: hard work, honesty, quality craftsmanship, and care for our team, customers, and community.
We are proud to have been honouring these values and delivering the Master Plumbers Guarantee for 40 years. Here’s to 40 more!
